Parent and Tots - parents and toddlers swimming lessons

Parent and Tots Program

For many parents, the first organized swimming class for any infant is almost like a “rite of passage”. For most, the experience is as exciting for the parent as it is for the child. At Aquatics Academy, the Parents and Tots Program is truly a unique aquatic experience until children are ready to move up to Red Cross Preschool Programs

If you’re ready for this type of swim program, it could be the start of a lifelong love affair with swimming. Its even better with a fabulous swim facility, a good teaching/learning approach, and a team of experienced instructors; the good news is that Aquatics Academy offers it all.

At Aquatics Academy, our Parent and Tot program is a fun and enjoyable way for your child to get comfortable in the water. Besides building familiarity and confidence, your child will begin to learn all of the basic skills associated with swimming and water safety.

While every child is going to be different, this program is particularly targeted at ages 4 months to 3 years. We believe in a skills-based approach, even at the youngest age group. But we never forget about providing a fun and enjoyable environment. Safety, of course, is always a priority.

The Parent and Tot program takes place in shallow water, with activities that include floating, kicking, and jumping into the water. A parent, guardian, or caretaker can accompany the child during the swim session, even if they have minor swimming abilities.

The instructor team at Aquatics Academy moves through skills development at a realistic pace, combining songs and games to make things more enjoyable. Some of the skills at this level would include breath control, water buoyancy, and going fully under water, all dependent on the child.

We also believe in educating each parent – it allows for ongoing practice and development once the class is finished. From front floats, to back floats, to rollovers, practice makes perfect for every child. More and more, children get comfortable both in the water and going under water.
