In Bronze Star, candidates develop problem-solving and decision-making skills as individuals and in partners. They learn self-rescue techniques, in-water searches, CPR, water rescue skills and first aid including how to manage a land spinal injury. Candidates also develop stroke endurance and lifesaving fitness skills.


Pre-Requisites: Ability to Swim 200 meters, Candidate is recommended to be at least 12 years old.


Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid




Course Description: Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education – judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn self-rescue techniques, defence and release methods, and tows and carries in preparation for challenging rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types, including spinal injuries and circulatory emergencies. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion includes the Emergency First Aid certification.


Pre-Requisites: Bronze Star (Recommended)
No age pre-requisite if candidate has Bronze Star; if not, must be 13 years by the day of the Exam


Evaluation: Items are evaluated by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor and/or Examiner.


Bronze Cross




Course Description: Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safety supervision in aquatic facilities. Candidates develop proficiency at performing patient assessments, managing aquatic spinal injuries, and preventing the loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies, while developing stroke endurance and fitness training skills. Bronze Cross includes the CPR-C certification and is one of the pre-requisite awards for all advanced Lifeguarding and Leadership training programs.


Pre-Requisites: Bronze Medallion and Emergengy First Aid (minimum age of 14 years)

Evaluation: Items are evaluated by a qualified Lifesaving Instructor and/or Examiner.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Great opportunity to work with children! Instructors teach learn-to-swim lessons for infants, toddlers and children of all ages at our facilities. Opportunity exist to teach private at home lesson throughout the GTA.

REQUIREMENTS:
National Lifeguard Certification (NLS) and Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, First Aide and CPR Certifications. Must be kind, energetic and easy going. Background in swimming is preferred but not mandatory. Just enthusiasm for working with children and making a difference! We’ll teach you the rest! Training provided. Lifeguard / CPR certification is required.

LIFEGUARD (Part-Time available)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lifeguards watch over pools at various clubs, programs and private parties. Lifeguards are responsible for overall safety in the pool, preventing accidents and injuries, and treating injuries with first-aid. Strong swimming skills required for lifeguards.

Rebecca Katzberg is the Owner and Director at Aquatics Academy Inc. She obtained a personal training certificate from Seneca College and studied Kinesiology at York University, as well Rebecca is a Aqua Fit instructor. Rebecca has worked for many of the local swim schools in Toronto and The Bathurst Jewish Community Centre over the past 20 years.

Due to client needs In 2000, Rebecca started teaching private lessons in backyard and condo pools. thus the start of Aquatics Academy originally named Mobile Aquatics. By being a personal trainer Rebecca always incorporates fitness into her teaching routine and program. Rebecca has developed a unique approach which is very hands on with focus on each individual, and addresses their specific needs. Her methods have been introduced to her staff and worked into their lessons and program.

Today Rebecca continues to take an active role in the day to day operations of the company to ensure the high level of quality and customer satisfaction expected by our clients.

At Aquatics Academy we provide high quality swimming lessons with low student to instructor ratios. Group classes have a ratio of 2:1 for all preschool levels, 3:1 for all 30 min classes, and 4:1 for 45 and 60 minute classes conducted in an enjoyable and safe environment. Our Advanced Aquatic courses also offer low student to instructor ratios to ensure an ideal learning environment. We offer scheduled group, semi-private, or private classes at multiple indoor facilities in mid-town Toronto and Vaughan. Our pools are kept at a comfortable 84-88 degrees. We also specialize in private swimming lessons in the comfort of your home or condo pool.

At Aquatics Academy we are more than the average swim school as we offer a wide range of services not limited to lifeguards, Aqua Fit instructors, camp staff courses, first aid training, advanced aquatics, as well as the full Lifesaving Society and Red Cross learn to swim programs. Our friendly and experienced staff has been hand picked and thoroughly screened by the Aquatics Academy Management Team. Our Instructors are qualified by both The Canadian Red Cross and The Lifesaving Society. Most of our Instructors and lifeguards have been working with Rebecca and Aquatics Academy for multiple years.
