FAQs

  1. How much do lessons cost?

    Aquatics Academy offers many different options and programs.  Pricing is based on the number of lessons in each session. Please check schedule & pricing on our website for further information.

  2. How many children are in the swim classes?

    If your child is between 3 to 5 years of age lessons are a 2:1 ratio. If your child is 5 years of age or older lessons are a 3:1 ratio. Lifesaving Society Swim Patrol program is a 4:1 ratio. Adult lessons are a 4:1 ratio. All private lessons are a 1:1 ratio, regardless of age.

  3. What age is best to start my child in swimming lessons?

    The best age to begin lessons for babies is once they have head control around 4-6 months old. Aquatics Academy takes the child on their own with the swim instructor at 2 years of age. If your child is younger than 2 years of age, our Parent and Tot Program is highly recommended. Our Parent and Tot Program is tons of fun for both yourself and your baby.

  4. Can all my children have classes at the same time?

    Yes, we will do our best to ensure that all family members are enrolled in swim classes at the same time.

  5. Can I request an instructor?

    While we will try our best to accommodate requests for a particular instructor, we cannot guarantee them as the majority of our instructors have schedules that change every few months. But not to worry! All of our instructors teach the same skills and curriculum, just with their own personal style! In fact, exposure to different instructors will help your children progress and succeed at a faster rate.

  6. May I register after the swim session has started?

    Yes, for sure! We are always happy to have you.  Aquatics Academy will pro-rate your fees and charge you only for the lessons that are remaining within the session.

  7. Can I change the day/time of the swim lessons after the session has started?

    It is understandable how busy kids and families can be with their schedules. A change fee of $15.00 per student per change will apply if a change is made by the parent/guardian more than 2 weeks before the start date and $25.00 per student per change if the change occurs within 2 weeks of the start date and/or during the session. Your schedule change must be requested by email or in your parent portal. Aquatics Academy can NOT guarantee a requested schedule change can be accommodated, however, we will always do our best to accommodate your schedule.

  8. What happens if a class is missed?

    We have designated days for make-up classes at the end of each session. Aquatics Academy allows one make-up class per child per session. If a class has been missed, you can call or email and we’ll be happy to help you schedule a make-up class.

  9. What happens if Aquatics Academy has to cancel a class?

    Occasionally, Aquatics Academy may have to close for reasons such as weather, pool fouling or mechanical issues. We will do our best to notify all customers as soon as possible by phone or email. A make-up class will be issued to all students for the current session.

  10. What do I need to bring to swimming lessons?

    Please bring a towel and bathing suit. Any additional clothing must be bathing suit material. Long hair should be pulled back for safety reasons. Goggles are recommended. All children under 4 years of age or children who are not toilet trained must wear an approved reusable snug fit swim diaper. The swim diaper must not have velcro or button snaps. We recommend Charlie Banana reusable swim diapers. Disposable swim diapers are not permitted in our pools. We have Charlie Banana reuseable swim diapers on sale for $19.97 + GST at our Champagne Center pool.

  11. My child is not yet 4 years old but is fully toilet trained. Does he/she have to wear the reusable swim diaper still?

    Yes. For the health and saftey of all participants, all children under 4 years of age are required to use a reusable swim diaper regardless if they are toilet trained.

  12. What types of payment do you accept?

    We accept Visa, MasterCard and E-Transfers.
